Histopathological studies in cerebral theileriosis of calves experimentally infected with Theileria annulata

Histopathological studies in cerebral theileriosis of calves experimentally infected with Theileria annulata

Indian Journal of Parasitology 6(1): 91-94

Of 20 calves experimentally infected with T. annulata by tick feeding or injection of ground-up tick supernate, 4 developed nervous symptoms in addition to the typical symptoms of theileriosis and died after 12 to 27 days. The remaining calves suffered from the systemic form of theileriosis and 15 died. Postmortem examination of the calves with nervous symptoms revealed acute congestion and haemorrhages in the meninges, cerebral hemisphere and cerebellum.
