Homeostasis and requirement of vitamin B-6 in growing rats

Homeostasis and requirement of vitamin B-6 in growing rats

Zeitschrift fur Tierphysiologie, Tierernahrung und Futtermittelkunde 46(5): 247-254

For 21 days 54 weanling male Sprague-Dawley rats were given a semisynthetic diet free from vitamin B-6 with 24.8% crude protein and gross energy 19.1 MJ/kg without or with pyridoxine hydrochloride 1.5, 3, 6, 12 or 24 mg/kg. Liveweight gains, feed intake and efficiency, and nitrogen deposition were significantly decreased in rats given the diet free from vitamin B-6.
