Hormonal control of fertility in sheep. 6. Subcutaneous Hydron implants of norgestomet compared with vaginal pessaries containing FGA

Groups of non-lactating females at around 150 days post partum (10-32 females per group) and representing 4 breed types (Lecce, Altamura, Apulian Merino (AM) and AM X Altamura) were treated with either vaginal pessaries containing 40 mg FGA for 14 days or with ear implants containing 3 mg norgestomet for 12 days. 400 IU PMSG was given at implant/pessary removal. All females given FGA and 90.6-100% of those given norgestomet came into oestrus 20-52 h after the end of treatment.
