In the 1st experiment, 100 ewes in spring were allotted to 2 groups given vaginal sponges for 14 days containing 30 and 40 mg FGA resp., followed by injection of 400 IU PMSG. Mating groups of 1 male :10 females were formed 48 h later for 5 days. The percentages of ewes lambing to the induced oestrus were 56.2 and 52.0 resp., and number of lambs per 100 ewes lambing 144.4 and 126.9.
