Hormonal control of fertility in sheep. 9. Effect of lactation on response to FGA and PMSG treatment

Hormonal control of fertility in sheep. 9. Effect of lactation on response to FGA and PMSG treatment

Annali della Facolta di Agraria, Universita di Bari80 1983; 31: 287-299

302 Altamura ewes suckling a single lamb and 324 lactating ewes whose lambs had been weaned at 18-24 days of age were treated for 12 days in early or late autumn or in winter with a vaginal sponge containing 30 or 40 mg FGA, followed by 400, 500 or 600 IU PMSG, and were then mated. In untreated, lactating ewes at the end of autumn, the percentage of ewes lambing was significantly higher than in untreated, suckling ewes (41.5 vs. 9.1).
