Hormonal control of shoot apex activity in Theobroma cacao L

Foliar application of ABA to either new flush or previous flush leaves of cocoa seedlings extended the period of apex dormancy whereas zeatin and GA3 reduced the dormancy period. 14C-ABA accumulation at the shoot apex was maximum during the dormant period whereas the growth promoters GA3 and BAPwere only translocated to the apex in any quantity during bud burst and leaf expansion periods.
