Host deprivation influence on response of Rhagoletis pomonella to its oviposition deterring pheromone

Host deprivation influence on response of Rhagoletis pomonella to its oviposition deterring pheromone

Physiological Entomology, 81: 69-72

The response of host-deprived females of Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh) to host fruit (Crataegus viridis) marked with the oviposition-deterring pheromone of R. pomonella was measured in the laboratory in the USA. A positive correlation was found between length of host deprivation (5, 10, 20, 40 or 80 min) and probility of host acceptance (i.e. oviposition) by flies.
