Host plant chemicals responsible for attraction and oviposition in Acrolepiopsis assectella

Host plant chemicals responsible for attraction and oviposition in Acrolepiopsis assectella

Proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Insect Plant Relationships, Wageningen, the Netherlands, 1-4 March 1982: 107-115

Laboratory studies were carried out in France on the food-plant chemicals responsible for the attraction of and oviposition by Acrolepiopsis assectella (Zell.). When the attractiveness of volatile sulfurous secondary substances emitted by leek plants to adults of both sexes was evaluated in an olfactometer, propyl thiosulfinate proved to be highly attractive. Several C6 general leaf volatiles and epicuticular waxes were also assessed.
