Aberrant behaviour observed in gammarids collected from brackish ponds in Languedoc, France, was correlated with the presence of mature M. papillorobustus metacercariae in the brain. Young cerebral larvae and mature thoracic or abdominal cysts did not alter host behaviour. In G. aequicauda numerous metacercariae were found in the thorax and abdomen, whereas in G. insensibilis very few were found in these sites.
