Tomatoes, Abunda, were sown on 22 October and planted in pots on 16 December in experimental energy-saving glasshouses with double acrylic glazing or acrylic glazing + glass, or a standard Venlo-type glasshouse (control). Half the plants were planted out in soil on 4 or 8 January, and half (still in pots) were placed on rockwool mats on 20 January, and the day/night temperature regime was 18 deg /15 deg C.
