How can the digestive disorders caused by haemonchosis in sheep be explained?

Point Veterinaire 13(65): 33-38

The nature of secretory and motor dysfunctions (most marked in the first 12 days of infection) during experimental H. contortus in lambs was studied in a series of tests. <40% of larvae ingested became attached to the abomasal mucosa: 75 of 40 000 larvae were found in the abomasum 30 min after infection, 13% in 6 h and at 24 h most larvae found at the omaso-abomasal junction had lost infective power. Changes in abomasal permeability were caused by >20 larvae.
