How large is the surplus of sugar?

How large is the surplus of sugar?

International Sugar Report, FO Licht' s 115(19): 321-323

According to F.O. Licht's latest estimate of the world sugar balance 1982/83 production will outpace consumption by roughly 4 Mt despite the estimated upsurge in consumption to over 94 Mt. As a result, stocks are expected to reach a new record high of 10 Mt. The ending stock level on 31 August 1983 will be about 36.7 Mt. However, only part of this can be regarded as surplus.
