The design of a macroeconomic simulation model for agriculture is fundamentally different from that of a smaller more easily checked model of an individual farm. A preliminary requirement for the macromodel is the existence of many individual models of subsystems, each of which will already be exceptionally large and complicated. It is not however sufficient merely to combine these subsystems to complete a workable macromodel.
