Human colostral leukocytes: release of immunoglobulin A during phagocytosis

Human colostral leukocytes: release of immunoglobulin A during phagocytosis

Dissertation Abstracts International, B 43(7): 2117

Colostral leukocytes were incubated with latex- or serum-opsonized Candida albicans or Escherichia coli O7KL. Approx. 40% of IgA in the leukocytes was released within 30-60 min during phagocytosis, but no release occurred when non-opsonized organisms were used, or in the presence of cytochalasin B. When leukocytes were separated into macrophages and neutrophils, IgA release from macrophages was similar to that from total leukocytes, but no release occurred from neutrophils.
