Studies were carried out in Estonia, USSR, between 1975 and 1980 on the epidemiological process in foci of tick-borne encephalitis, which is transmitted in the republic by Ixodes ricinus (L.) and I. persulcatus Schulze, by determining humoral antibodies to the virus in healthy people and livestock living in the area of a focus, the abundance and virulence of tick vectors and the occurrence of forms showing symptoms and of asymptomatic ones.
