59 animals were housed in an open front stall on deep litter and 57 animals on partly slatted floor. Clinical examination revealed more claw injuries and abnormalities of gait among animals on the partly slatted floor. Animals were slaughtered after a fattening period of 90 or 104 days. Cartilage lesions in joints and growth plates were evaluated by lesion score according to macroscopical, histological and radiographical findings.
