Inheritance and association of certain fruit and pedicel characters in Capsicum annuum L. relative to the fruit detachment force

Seven fruit traits were studied in crosses among four morphologically different cultivars, namely Serrano Chili, Anaheim Chili, Red Cherry Small and Keystone Resistant Giant. Fruit detachment force (FDF) was highly correlated with fruit diameter and pedicel diameter, and negatively correlated with fruit length and pedicel length. Significant differences were observed for fruit length, fruit diameter and FDF between pendant and upright fruit orientation.
