Mycological study on the epidemiological situation in pedicure salons

Hygienic conditions in pedicure salons in 1979 were found to be unsatisfactory and dermatophytes widespread. Of the samples 34% yielded dermatophytes, including 2.4% from instruments and 31.6% from scrapings. Of the dermatophytes 17% were Trichophyton mentagrophytes, 17% T. rubrum and 2% T. rubrum + Scopulariopsis brevicaulis.
