Nephotettix virescens -- vector of rice dwarf virus

In contrast to reports from other countries, in 1972-79, studies on rice in Fujian, China, indicated that Nephotettix virescens (Dist.) was also a vector of rice dwarf virus. In transmission tests, 42 of 988 examples (4.3%) were found to be naturally infective, as compared with 47 of 969 examples (4.9%) of N. cincticeps (Uhl.). The rate of transmission for the 2 species was 30.9 and 34.7%, respectively; the difference was not signficant.
