Abstract
Seasonal fluctuations in feeding behaviour of rats are described, showing a decrease in food intake during midsummer (August). This diminution of feeding behaviour is mainly caused by a decrease in night-time activity. Eating activity patterns are similar during the year. No change in phase angle between eating activity and light-dark schedule was found. Suggestions are made to correlate the seasonal changes in food intake with seasonal changes in norepinephrine content of the brain.
