On the ecology of the buthid scorpion: Tityus trivittatus fasciolatus Pessoa, 1935

Information is given on the habitat, feeding behaviour, natural enemies, territoriality, population density and sex-ratio of the buthid Tityus trivittatus fasciolatus Pessoa, which was studied in Brazil over a period of some 5 years. It was found that in a treeless area, the scorpion was closely associated with termite mounds constructed by a species of Armitermes; these provided the only shelter.
