On the effects of lug pitch upon the tractive effort about track-laying vehicles

7th International Conference, International Society for Terrain Vehicle Systems, August 16-20, 1981, Calgary, Alberta, Canada: 255-262
On the effects of lug pitch upon the tractive effort about track-laying vehicles
The effect of lug pitch on tractive effort of track-laying vehicles has not been clarified, although the effects of track shoe shape has been studied. A ratio of lug pitch to lug height in the range of 3-4 was found to give the best traction, in theoretical and experimental investigations evaluating the effect of the lug height, lug pitch and lug thickness.
