Optimal design of batch/semicontinuous processes
A general formulation of the optimization problem arising in the design of plants involving batch/semicontinuous operations is presented. This extension of the min. capital cost design problem properly accounts for the effects of semicontinuous units on the overall design. The continuous form of the general problem remains a geometric program and can be efficiently solved in the convexified form.
