Preliminary results on the production of Chinese cabbage in the greenhouse

Preliminary results on the production of Chinese cabbage in the greenhouse

Gartenbau 30(2): 43-45

Chinese cabbages have a 30-40% lower specific heat requirement than cabbage lettuce. In 1981 and 1982, early Chinese cabbages (cvs Spring A1, Nagaoka 50 days and Nagaoka 55 days) were grown in plastic greenhouses with or without heating. Planting was from early January until the end of March for harvesting at the end of March until May. Yields increased with later sowing dates and lower night temperatures, 10 deg instead of 17 deg C.
