Problems of cereal varieties with monogenic resistance to rust diseases

Problems of cereal varieties with monogenic resistance to rust diseases

Bericht uber die Arbeitstagung 1980 der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Saatzuchtleiter, 25-27 November, Gumpenstein: 149-161

Resistance responses of the resistant barley varieties Minrus and Jostrain and their respective derivatives, the virtually isogenic lines Rodney D and Rodney E, to a number of races of Puccinia graminis indicated the existence of considerable differences in their genetic basis. Minrus may differ from Rodney D by three resistance genes epistatic to Pg-1, present in both varieties. Rodney E was in all cases less resistant than Jostrain and was highly susceptible to the Austrian race A2.
