The timing and dosage of oestradiol benzoate injected after weaning was critical with respect to the pattern of behavioural oestrus and ovarian stimulation achieved; treatment on day of weaning (day 0) and day 1 with oestradiol benzoate at 60 mu g/kg body wt. produced poor ovulatory responses and abnormal oestrous behaviour.
