Fructose, glucose and sucrose were separated by HPLC on a 5 mu m amine column and detected by absorbance at 190 nm. The procedure quantified these sugars in Averrhoa carambola fruit, but preliminary ion exchange column chromatography was necessary before satisfactory HPLC results could be obtained.
