Study on radish quality (Raphanus sativus L. var. niger (Mill.) S. Kerner). Part I. Effect of soil moisture, seasons, harvesting period and fertilization on texture of radish

Journal of the Korean Society for Horticultural Science 23(3): 188-193

In a pot experiment, radishes were grown at moisture levels of 50, 70 or 90% field capacity, and in a greenhouse experiment they were grown in spring, summer or autumn and with 80, 120 or 160 kg N/ha. Texture was measured with a Kramer Shear Press. Roots were larger and texture was better at higher moisture levels.
