Sulphur fertilizer effect on cotton: II. Growth characteristics, nutrient status and yield

In 1980 and 1981 cotton was grown at 4 sites on 2 soils under irrigated or rainfed conditions and given 0-67.2 kg S/ha and variable levels of N at 2 sites. Seed cotton yield, plant ht., seedling survival, percentage lint, staple length, micronaire, percentage of bolls reaching maturity and days from flowering to maturity were not significantly affected by S treatment. Plant ht. increased with increasing N application.
