The influence of doses of 50 or 300 kg N fertilizer/ha on the nitrogenous constituents of cocksfoot and meadow fescue growing in permanent pasture in 1977-9 was studied. Grass N content increased with increase in N fertilizer rate in both spp.; they had the highest N content in the 3rd and final cut (meadow usage) and in the 1st of 5 cuts (simulated grazing).
