In field trials in 1970-8 on peat-muck soil in the Lyna valley near Olsztyn, meadows dominated by Festuca pratensis (40%) and Alopecurus pratensis were given 120, 240, 360 or 480 kg NPK (1:1:2)/ha, or 60 kg P2O5 + 120 kg K2O, 60 kg N + 60 kg P2O5 or 60 kg N + 120 kg K2O/ha. In 1976-8 the highest DM yields were obtained with 240 kg NPK/ha (9.6 t/ha) and 300 kg NPK/ha (10.1 t/ha) and the lowest (5.2 t/ha) when K was absent.
