The influence of stocking rate and fertilizer on restoration of grass-legume pastures and milk production from grass pasture
In 3 years 32 cows in 8 groups grazed at 2-3.5/ha in 4 paddocks of Gatton panic pasture fertilized with N at 200 or 400 kg/ha each year, using a 4-week rotation. Milk yield per ha increased with stocking rate from 5870 to 8884 kg (P < 0.01), and the difference in yield between high and low rates of N increased with time and was 600 kg/ha in the 3rd year (P < 0.05).
