To study the correlation of certain body measurements, age at first calving and body weights at different age levels with total milk and butter fat production in Murrah buffaloes and Red Sindhi cows

Records collected on 20 buffaloes and 28 cows were used to calculate phenotypic correlations between various body measurements and production traits. In Red Sindhis, birth weight was significantly correlated with 1st- and 2nd-lactation milk yields (0.78 and 0.90 resp.), body weight at 1st calving with 1st-lactation fat yield (0.87), and body weight at 2nd calving with 2nd-lactation milk and fat yields (0.44 and 0.59).
