Yield components of Kopara wheat in response to seeding rates, rates and times of application of nitrogen fertilizer

Wheat Kopara was sown at 5 densities (170 to 580 seeds/m2) in autumn and 0 to 180 kg N/ha were applied in Aug. and Nov. giving different ratios between the 2 dates. A sowing rate of 375 seeds/m2 was the opt. for grain yield. At higher rates the increase in ear populations was offset by reduced grain set. N fertilizer increased tillers/m2 at the final harvest but there was also a decrease in av. grain wt.
