A description of the microfilaria of Stephanofilaria sp. producing 'leg sore' in cattle in West Bengal (India)

Stained impression smears from "leg sore" lesions from 220 cattle were examined microscopically. Unsheathed microfilaria of Stephanofilaria were seen in 141 (64.1%). The microfilariae were mostly in an open "C" posture; they measured 119.6-127.6 micro m long by a maximum 6.9 micro m wide. A pair of oral stylets was present.
