A method of limited soil cultivation for summer sown lucerne
Rostlinna Vyroba 28(3): 233-248
In trials in 1976-9 on loam soil in the maize growing region, in which irrigated lucerne was sown in summer after cereals and early potatoes, differences in DM yield between crops sown on soils ploughed to 15-18 cm depth, disced to 8-10 cm, or on untilled soil were low over a 2-yr period. Irrigation reduced the yield variation caused by differences in seedbed tillage treatment. Lucerne establishment when sown after potatoes was closely related to temp. during emergence.
