A stem and root rot of tobacco transplants in Zimbabwe caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn and Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc

A stem and root rot of tobacco transplants in Zimbabwe caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn and Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc

Zimbabwe Journal of Agricultural Research 20(2): 149-152

F. solani caused damage when roots and stems were dipped in a spore suspension or on transplanting into soil inoculated with the spore suspension. The light brown superficial lesions on stems were fairly easily distinguished from those caused by R. solani, which are dark brown to black and sunken. Plant dry mass 3 wk after transplanting was negatively correlated with stem damage.
