Activity of some enzymes in the serum and faeces of pigs with experimental Ascaris and Oesophagostomum infection
The activities of aspartate and alanine aminotransferases, aldolase, acid and alkaline phosphatases and leucine aminopeptidase were monitored in the blood and those of leucine aminopeptidase and alkaline phosphatase, also in the faeces of piglets on days 7 to 64 after infection with 1000 A. suum ova and 2000 O. dentatum larvae. The changes recorded were most marked on days 7 to 22, i.e. during migration of A. suum and development of O. dentatum in the intestinal wall.
