Additive and non-additive genetic effects on feed efficiency for egg production in White Leghorn birds

Additive and non-additive genetic effects on feed efficiency for egg production in White Leghorn birds

Sabrao Journal 16(1): 41-47

A 4 x 4 diallel crossing experiment involving 4 strains of White Leghorns was conducted to evaluate general combining ability, specific combining ability and reciprocal effects for feed consumed per bird per day, feed consumed per 12 eggs produced, and feed consumed/kg egg mass. Heterosis, averaged over all crosses, was 2.3, 8.1 and 5.1% for the 3 traits resp.
