Adolescent nutrition: 3. Obesity

Prevalence, aetiology and treatment of obesity, which is one of the most common disorders affecting North American adolescents, are discussed and it is concluded that environment and heredity seem to play a role in the genesis of adolescent obesity. Inadequate physical activity is an important factor as many obese adolescents seem not to overeat.
