Adult abdominal sternum II in ditrysian tineoid superfamilies - morphology and phylogenetic significance (Lepidoptera)

Adult abdominal sternum II in ditrysian tineoid superfamilies - morphology and phylogenetic significance (Lepidoptera)

Annales Entomologici Fennici, 494: 89-94

The abdominal sterna II of adult Lepidoptera are briefly reviewed and descriptions are given of sterna II in the ditrysian superfamilies Tineoidea, Yponomeutoidea, Gelechioidea and Copromorphoidea. The evolution of the ditrysian sternum II is discussed. The most plesiomorphic type is found in the Tineidae.
