Of 59 pigs exposed for 30 minutes in a chamber of 120 msuperscript 3 capacity to an aerosol of 200 ID of live Erysipelothrix vaccine suspended in 200 ml diluent (1.38 ID/msuperscript 3), and challenged after 10, 17 or 24 days with 9 x 108 virulent organisms, 97% were immune. Similarly, 95% of 98 pigs exposed to 0.8 ID/msuperscript 3 and 72.4% of 58 pigs exposed to 0.4 ID/msuperscript 3 were resistant to challenge.
