Aggregation characteristics of carnation ringspot virus in vitro
The influence of temp., medium composition and virus concn on reversible aggregation was investigated by measuring the transmission of CRSV solutions at lambda = 400 nm. In 0.01 M phosphate buffer, pH 5, with 5 mg/ml CRSV, aggregation could be observed at 35 degrees C, with 0.15 mg/ml only at 71 degrees. At low virus concn aggregation was favoured by 1 M NaCl or KCl or 0.1 M MgCl2, and was inhibited by 20% w/v sucrose.
