Agricultural development in Kenya with special reference to Eastern Division, Kitui District

Choros (8): 60

The study focusses on the Eastern Division of Kitui District to describe the pattern of agriculture in one of the semi-arid areas of Kenya. It discusses production, farming methods and some of the main problems of food production in the area generally. The study is based on analysis of available statistics, field work and interviews with experts, officials and farmers in Kenya and Sweden. The study shows that recurring dry periods frequently bring the population to the verge of starvation.
