Barley Giza 119 was sown during 1980-2 on 5, 15 or 25 Nov. or Dec. and harvested on 31 March, 10, 20 or 30 April or 10 May. N as calcium ammonium nitrate was applied at 32 kg/feddan. The highest grain yield of 17.33 ardeb/feddan was obtained from sowing on 25 Nov., while harvesting on 30 April produced the highest grain yield of 15.19 ardeb/feddan. Number and wt. of grains/ear, ear length and 1000-grain wt. were highest from sowing on 15 or 25 Nov.
