Cell-mediated cytotoxicity and lymphocyte stimulation in unweaned piglets with and without colostral immunity against Aujeszky's virus

Cell-mediated cytotoxicity and lymphocyte stimulation in unweaned piglets with and without colostral immunity against Aujeszky's virus

Zentralblatt fur Veterinarmedizin, B 31(4): 303-318

Eight criteria of cell mediated immunity were applied to 25 piglets from vaccinated sows, and 4 piglets without maternal antibody. Over half of the former showed spontaneous cell-mediated cytotoxicity, particularly in cells from liver and spleen. Specific antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity was demonstrated by using autologous serum in 17 of the 25 piglets, and by using porcine hyperimmune serum in 22 piglets (particularly in leukocytes, spleen and liver cells).
