Changes in 32P labelled RNA fractions from tomato roots inoculated with the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid & White) Chitwood

Changes in 32P labelled RNA fractions from tomato roots inoculated with the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid & White) Chitwood

Journal of Nuclear Agriculture and Biology 13(1): 10-15

The resistant tomato cultivar SL-120 inoculated with M. incognita synthesized tenaciously bound RNA (TB-RNA) about 5.7 times more rapidly than uninoculated controls as early as 24 h after inoculation. A smaller increase was found in the inoculated susceptible cultivar Rusa Ruby. The increase in MAK column bound TB-RNA synthesis was greater than that of rRNA + sRNA suggesting a highly activated synthesis of TB-RNA especially in resistant cultivars early in infection.
