Comparison of cell proteins of bacteria of the genus Erwinia by O'Farrell's two-dimensional gel electrophoresis

Comparison of cell proteins of bacteria of the genus Erwinia by O'Farrell's two-dimensional gel electrophoresis

Annals of the Phytopathological Society of Japan 49(4): 529-538

Cell proteins of 22 strs. of E. spp. were analyzed by this technique. An acidic major protein was found to vary greatly with the str. and may be used in the classification and identification of E. strs. Fractionation studies showed that it was an outer membrane protein and similar to the "major envelope protein" of Escherichia coli B. Two-dimensional gel protein profiles of whole cell proteins of E. spp. also differed with the strs. The difference was visualized by comparison of intense spots.
