Comparison of different patterns of exogenous growth hormone administration on milk production in Holstein cows

In a 4 x 4 Latin square design with 10-day periods separated by 4 days, 4 Holstein-Friesian cows in late lactation were given a single subcutaneous (s.c.) placebo injection daily or bovine growth hormone (GH) at 51.5 IU/day administered in (i) a single s.c. injection of 30 ml, (ii) pulses of 5 ml at 4-h intervals into the jugular vein (i.v.), or (iii) a continuous i.v. infusion of 150 ml.
