Correlation of the anticholinesterase and molluscicidal activity of the latex of Euphorbia royleana on the snail Lymnaea acuminata

Correlation of the anticholinesterase and molluscicidal activity of the latex of Euphorbia royleana on the snail Lymnaea acuminata

Journal of Natural Products 47(4): 702-705

LC50 of the latex was 1.91 p.p.m. dry weight, lower than a standard molluscicide nicolsamide (11.8 p.p.m.). Treatment with 9 x 10-6 (v/v) latex caused 63% mortality and >2.7 x 10-5 (v/v) latex caused 100% mortality in 24 h. Snail cholinesterase activity decreased with increasing latex concentration applied.
